Lizzie’s Books of the Year 2023

I am always going on about old favourites in the shop, books I love to revisit which grow and change over time, as I do. (Admittedly, I haven’t grown upwards for some years now, but you know what I mean.) And when I looked over everything I had read this year, there were many older books which I wanted to include. Ones I had re-read and ones I’ve been meaning to read for a long time which were finally taken down from the shelf: The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, being one in the latter category which will not now leave me alone. Yet I found that almost all of my choices are new. Though they already feel like old friends. I hope they’ll feel like that for you too.
