Ladies’ Lunch – Lore Segal

A fantastic collection of short stories looking at life in old age with wit, honesty and charm. Lore Segal left Vienna as a child on the Kindertransport and has spent periods of her life in the UK, the Dominican Republic and the USA, where she has published regularly in the New Yorker magazine. This collection takes its title from a story that first appeared there in 2017 and includes several connected stories about a group of nonagenarian friends, whose relationships and past lives Segal explores with affection and tenderness.
